Professional BIGbreaks:

Don LaFontaine, Working Voice Actor
What do you consider to be your BIGbreak?
I would have to consider joining the Army to be my BIGbreak. It was there that I learned recording studio and film techniques, which led to getting a job in New York after my discharge, which, in turn led me to be assigned to work with a young Radio Producer named Floyd L. Peterson, which led me to join him in business, which eventually led me to my first voiceover job, which, of course, led me to all the subsequent voiceover jobs ... In short, like most people, my BIGbreak started with a tiny crack, and it came from a completely unexpected direction.
What is the best advice you've ever been given that's helped you in your chosen career?
The best advice I have ever been given regarding my chosen career came from an ancient Roman tombstone "Non Illegimati Carborundum" -- Don't let the bastards grind you down. In short, as long as what you're doing feels right and isn't breaking any laws or hurting anybody else -- follow your dreams. You're opinion is just as valid as the CEO of General Motors is. If you're going to make it BIG, and I mean really BIG, you're going to do it as an individual -- in your own, distinctive way.
